Kyneton Bowling Club is in the heart of the Macedon Ranges, we service Kyneton, Woodend, Sunbury, and Gisborne and back north towards Bendigo and Castlemaine. The club is lucky to be positioned 1 hour from Melbourne and 45 minutes from Bendigo. We offer full function facilities, outdoor terrace, public bar area, pool table, Sky Racing, Junction on the Green Bistro and a meeting room.

During the early cold winter months of 1876, the need for some amusement was felt by some who were “too stiff” to kick a football or wield a willow.

Meetings were held between citizens interested in the formation of a bowling club early in 1876. Much of this activity was fireside at the residence of MR. J.J. Wells.

The second meeting was conducted at the Mechanics Institute on Saturday, July 7th. At this meeting thirty gentlemen indicated their interest and member subscriptions were set at one guinea per annum. On December 20th, 1876 the official opening of the Kyneton Bowling and Croquet Club took place. The first bowl was put down in this town.

Throughout the 125 years of operation, each Club President and his Committee have set sensible and attainable goals, and thereby achieved marvellous advances.

The current sound management enables the Club to look forward with confidence to the next 125 years. The club was originally peopled by men with a pioneering spirit. Six months after their first meeting, they were able to declare the new Kyneton Bowling Club open. Though times and events change rapidly with each year, it is the same spirit that seeks to keep Kyneton Bowling Club alive and well today.

For 125 years now the Kyneton Bowling Club has operated for the benefit of locals, always on its current site.

The club is proud of its heritage and its history.

The Kyneton Bowling Club is a not for profit club established in 1876. The following are our aims:
Donate a portion of its funds to such patriotic or charitable objects as the Club may determine.
Provide facilities for members and their guests upon premises of the Club suitable for the purpose and of which the Club is the bona fide occupier.
Provide an excellent bowling/sporting facility to meet the current and future needs of all members.
Provide excellent entertainment and dining facilities for members, guests and the Kyneton community.

Today the Clubs current function is to maintain a strong membership base of young and old members both bowling and general.

We will be focusing on supporting the community both in kind and with financial sponsorship now and well into the future.
